Research
Don’t we need more research before we allow a dangerous drug to come to market?
No. Cannabis is not a dangerous drug. It’s most distinguishing characteristic is its lack of toxicity. This plant has been used as a medicine for over 4,000 years now across many cultures. Prohibitionists lied to make this plant illegal and continue to spew rather silly arguments that are easily disproved by any rigorous examination of facts. More research is necessary to improve the quality and effectiveness of cannabis based medicines – but this cannot be accomplish by the corrupt act of preventing any real research – our government’s existing policy.
What research does Federal Government allow on this Plant?
Only negative research about its “harmful” qualities. Some estimate these expenditures to exceed $1 Billion since 1970. So what did the Government get for $1 Billion in anti cannabis research – Answer: A Patent on the medical efficacy of chemical compound inherent in the cannabis plant. This patent is prima facie evidence that the plant has a Medical use but the Government classification as a Schedule I drug demands there is no medical use.

Why is it called “marijuana”?
Marijuana is a derogatory term for cannabis made popular by the “fake news” promulgated by out of control federal bureaucrats and the “yellow journalists” in the 1930’s. Cannabis had been part of the American Pharmacopeia since the 1850’s and was one of the most widely use medicines in the late 19 th century. The Head of the Bureau of Narcotics (former known as the Bureau of Alcohol) – Harry J. Anslinger used fear and racism to create a fake news “crises” in a bureaucratic power grab by the Federal Government to steal regulatory rights from the States. They had to rename the drug to accomplish this act – against the advice of the American Medical Association.
Policy
On what scientific basis was “marijuana” made illegal?
None. Any objective review of the history reveals there was never any scientific or medical evidence used in outlawing a plant grown throughout the Country. Every major independent study documents the outright lies told by bureaucrats. See the Laguaria Commission in the 1940 and the Shafer Commission in the 1970’s.
