Cannabis therapies are available in Tennessee… for a limited few

Little known bill SB-2531 passed in 2014 allows an exclusive few patients access to medical cannabis treatments.  Although a step in the right direction this bill, later ratified in 2015 and subsequently 2016 is extremely restrictive.

Only those actively participating in a certified medical university’s research study in cannabis as is used in patients with uncontrollable seizures can use this valuable therapy.

The timeframe of this study is roughly 4 years, with all medical providers and clinicians submitting their studies and findings to the Tennessee Legislature by January of 2018.

Although Tennesseans, and some major cities in Tennessee, agree that medical cannabis should be available to those with serious illnesses; SB-2531 only acknowledges a select few.
